Hi!
This is my new Blog where I hope to share some great recipes with you.
I'm new to this kind of thing so I'm just gonna start with not much fuzz (=
There it goes!
As I am a total addict to Pinterest I was searching for the perfect garlic bread recipe. What I actually found after days of searching was a recipe for "Pizza Factory Breadsticks" ( http://purplechocolathome.blogspot.com/2011/09/pizza-factory-breadsticks.html )
I was amazed by how fluffy they looked so I checked out the recipe.
It wasnt exactly what I had in mind, because I was actually looking for a loaf of garlic bread, so I changed a couple details and here goes the perfect recipe for the perfect garlic bread:
1 1/2 packets of dry yeast
2 tbsp powdered sugar
1 1/2 CUPS warm water
4 CUPS all purpose flour
1 tsp salt
1tbsp olive oil (the better the oil the better the taste)
1 CUP unsalted butter
1 tsp salt
4 garlic cloves
1 tsp freshly ground pepper
1 tbsp Oregano (the dried kind you get in a glass tin)
2 tbsp parmesan cheese grated
How to:
First you put the yeast, the water and the sugar in your mixing bowl in your Kitchen Aid (or other electric mixer) and let it disolve for like 1 minute.
Then add the flour, the salt and the olive oil and beat with the dough-paddle of your Kitchen Aid (o.o.e.m.) on low speed until the a dough forms and peels of on the sides of the bowl. Continue kneading it for about 6 minutes. If its too sticky, just add a little more flour if its too dry add a little more olive oil.
Then put the dough in a floured bowl, cover with a dishtowel and let rest for about 45 minutes or until it has doubled in size.
Then cut it into two pieces and form two loafs and put on the bakingsheet (dont forget to put a baking paper under the loafs).
Cover again and let rest until size has doubled again. (About 30 minutes)
Preheat the oven to 190 C° or 375 F°
While the bread is rising melt the butter in the microwave.
Add salt, pepper and oregano.
When loafs have risen, cut diagonal lines in the loafs so the bread can breath while its in the oven.
With a brush generously spread 1/3 of the butter mixture on the loafs (its good, when part of it flows in the cuts you made before).
Put the bread in the oven and bake for 16 minutes (or until golden brown).
In the meantime add the parmesan cheese to the rest of the butter mixture and combine well. A paste will form.
When the bread is ready, take it out and with a nice deepen the cuts you made before and then with the brush add the paste in the cuts. The bread is still hot from the oven and will melt all the yummy garlicky paste.
We just had it for dinner with different italian salamis and prosciutto and sundried tomatoes, artichokes and olives. Parmesan and othe italian cheese. It was like heaven.
You can also eat it with a nice BBQ maybe?
Or you can make a really nice dip and use it for dipping!
