Pasta with Tuna-Tomatosauce

This is one of my favorite pasta recipes. As I love tuna AND tomatoes and of course pasta it's just the perfect "light"  alternative to a tuna-sauce with cream.

Ingredients:

canned whole tomatoes
tomato paste
canned tuna in olive oil
onions
garlic
fresh basil
salt
freshly ground pepper
short pasta (or your favorite)

Let's get started:

First you cut the onions and mince the garlic.
In a pan sautee them in the tuna can olive oil  until they are translucent.
Then add the tuna and cook on medium heat for abou 1 1/2 minutes.
Then add the canned tomatoes (including the juices in the can).
With your fingers crush the tomatoes a little bit, so there are still a couple bigger parts in the sauce. (You have to do that BEFORE mixing them with the rest or you will burn your hand REALLY bad)
Then add tomato paste (the amount - like all the ingredients, depends on how you like the taste).
Let it cook on medium heat for about 5 minutes or until you feel it's getting a little thicker.
Just before the end mince the basil leaves and add them to the sauce.
Then spice with salt and pepper as you wish.
When your pasta is cooked take the pan off the heat and toss the pasta directly in the pan.
Serve in the pan and if you wish with a little grated parmesan cheese.
If stored in the fridge properly can be eaten the next day too.

Enjoy (=
